How do you spend the first day of New Year?
I started the New year with spring cleaning at home to clear unwanted “burden”. Even though, we are practicing mindful shopping but we might also accumulative some items that we think we need and yet we don’t, and some items we are keeping as we think one day we might need to use it, however the one day will never come and its end up in our store-room. I decided to clear whatever I keep for sometimes and hardly notice its existence.
Basically, for the items that we keep for half a year, most probably we don’t need in our life. We can give to those people who need it. Moreover, when we go for shopping, don’t buy based on impulsive and think throughly, your need or your want. I am practising to bring a check list to shop, then buy what I need. Besides, never being influenced that you must buy when discount or offer, actually you are not saving but spending. Be a smart consumer!!!
When I remove dust from bookshelf and cabinet, it’s a great reflection that are we cleaning up our mind, let go the past and start anew? We are carrying too much and heavy “invisible” burden which is blocking our way and hardly for us to move forward without realisation. Why not start a “light” year?
Lighter in your food, your consumption, your desires, your power, your wealth, your want, greed, anger, ignorance and other! The lighter you are, you are going to move freely. Enjoying liberation in life!
I remembered a profound teaching from Buddha,
Buddha was asked, “What have you gained from Meditation?
He replied, ” Nothing.”However Buddha said “Let me tell you what I lost, Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Insecurity, Fear of old age and death.”
Let’s be a “Loser” and move “lighter” in year 2017!!!
