Why do you need affirmation from others?

The beautiful flowers need not to get affirmation from others. Its still blossom beautifully! Use your right view and understanding to make the right decision in life! Have a blossom life!

Today, I observed a conversation happening around me. It’s quite interesting!

A: Just wanted to get your opinion. Which smart phone is better, Model I or Model S?

B: To me, both models also out of date. I prefer latest model.

A: Okay… But can you share your opinion, which models are you going to choose?

B: Well, I told you I don’t prefer both models. By no choice, I’ll choose Model I because of the resale value is higher.

A: Why not choose model S? It comes with so many features which is better than model I. for example…..

B: Nope, I still prefer model I.

A: What are the reasons that you are not selecting model S? It’s so good!

Do you notice that from the conversation, Person A already wanted to get model S and he just need another voice to confirm his selection. As long as, Person B never give the answer as what he wanted, he will keep asking and pushing until he is getting confirmation from B on the selection of model S.

Are you the person A? Are you so insist on your selection? Are you looking for confirmation from others to support your selection?

It’s easy to observe others. How about ourselves?

Do pay attention to yourself?

To live life freely, we don’t need confirmation or acknowledgement from others for our decision. If everything happen in our life, we also need to get affirmation from others. We are suffering! We might be the shadow of others.

You are gradually losing yourself. Be the master of yourself!

  1. You stated “Do pay attention to yourself?” What a perfect question that directly applies to what I am learning in treatment, MINDFULNESS. I am glad I read this so early today, it will help me to be mindful! Nice post.
