How much time do you spend to take care of your body?
Recently, I stayed in monastery and it deepen my understanding that how much time we’ve spent to take care of our body’s need.
There are limited bath room, basins to accommodate to so many people, every morning, we need to queue patiently to go to toilet, shower even to brush and clean our face. During the waiting process, I can clearly knew the bad smell of my mouth before I brushed your teeth, my body odor before I took a bath, how stressful and painful when I need to go to toilet while waiting for my turn, how uncomfortable I am … How much “suffering” that my body is giving to me? You might not even notice when you are busy.
Besides, when you are hungry, you need to eat, when you are thirsty, you need to drink water, when you are sick, you need to get a good rest until it heal, when you feel cold, you need to wear more clothes to warm your body, when you feel hot, you need to take out your clothes…
Well, we are lucky as we can notice and see the body changes, as odor, bad smell, pain and others. We might take action to comfort and heal it.
How about our mind? Have you ever notice its existence?
How much time do you spend to take care of your precious mind?
As we can’t “see” mind, some of us might totally ignore the existence of it even the mind is so “sick” with all unwholesome thoughts which caused by greedy, ignorance, delusion, doubt and ego. The Mind might keep on sending “Signal for help”, yet we just ignore or totally neglect.
Why not slow down in our “busy” life? Be silence and take time off to be with yourself, be the best friend of yourself, listen to your mind, be aware of all thoughts arisen and cease.
Be still, breathing in and out, enjoy the present and the best moment in life.
