Have you ever check and pay attention to your tooth?
How many of your tooth is perfect without any filling and other dental treatment?
Sometimes, we might neglect and take things lightly, we even forget to brush, to floss to clean and gargle our tooth after eating. In a long run, we need to bear the consequence, bad tooth. Everything happened for a reason, it related to cause and effect.
Today, I had a dental appointment to remove old filling and replace by composite resin filling of my tooth. The dentist helped to replace a total of 4 old fillings. I am grateful to him as he was so professional and gentle as usual, not causing so much pain and discomfort. The total treatment took about 2 hours, it was a great moment to practice mindfulness. I am so mindful and aware of any thoughts arisen and cease. One of the realization was just observe the total process, the sound of equipment, the contact of tool and tooth, the sensation and others, don’t ever give any judgement or comment during the process like “so painful”, “so suffering”, “why so slow!”, “When can I go?”, “tired”….. A little discovery on myself that I can be at so peaceful, ease and less pain.
Normally, when you keep feeding your mind with thought on “Pain”, “Pain”, “Pain”.. even though minor pain become major pain, major pain become unbearable. Always remember you are what you think. Take a try and experience the power of mind.
After the treatment, the doctor shown me on the tooth photo for before and after, I was shocked when I looked at the condition of one of my “challenger” tooth which always cracked after root canal treatment. When all the old filling being removed, I saw severe decay at the bottom of tooth. I was unaware on its severe condition as its covered by filling. What a great lesson to learn, before we follow the meditation practice, we are not mindful and aware about our thoughts, all our unwholesome thoughts and action like cover up by filling, we can’t see or know ourselves well. After practicing diligently and gradually purify ourselves, we can see clearly on everything. How important to continue our practice on meditation in any moment of life!
Treat anything or any incident happen in your life whether good or bad as a good nutrient to nourish your spiritual life. Always tilt your angle on looking at things, look for positive angle which can bring positive energy and happiness to you and others.
