the happiness of gardening…

Last Sunday morning, I spent time to do netting for the new home of hairy melon. We’ve extended from the previous structure as we added in 3 more hairy melon plants. I enjoyed very much on the quiet time in the early morning accompanied with the happy songs from lovely birds. We can be so mindful and 100% live at now. You are observing your thoughts, you are aware on the arisen and cessation of thoughts. How wonderful to be live at now!

Sometimes, people might be misunderstood that meditation equivalent to sitting meditation only, as such, we might only doing sitting meditation and the rest of the time, we allow our mind to run like wild monkey. Think about it, why not be mindful in any moment of life, you can apply it to whatever you are doing whether sitting, working, cooking, reading, singing, laying down, talking, standing, gardening, driving, walking, running, eating, chatting and……Try to practice and you can feel the difference in your life and also your surrounding.

I've spent more than 2 hours to accomplish the task yet I don't even realize time flies...

I am truly happy when I looked at the new home for hairy melon. It can benefit to all beings in our garden, like bees, butterfly, dragonfly, ants, ladybird….

I am truly happy when I looked at the new home for hairy melon, I am actually building a home to benefit to all beings in our garden, like bees, butterfly, dragonfly, ants, ladybird….to get food and shelter. Most important, to cultivate the loving-kindness and compassion to all living beings.

There is a good lesson for us to learn by looking at the hairy melon…

Even though, we planted both plant at the same time, same soil, air, water, compost, sunlight (Just next to each other).Yet, the result is totally difference.

It’s so similar to our life, even though siblings yet our destiny in life might be totally difference. It all depend on us, what do you want in your life? How do you generate more good causes and enjoy the good effect later?

Don’t complain on bad luck, not fair and others negative excuses which not going to improve your life.

Why not follow the teaching from Master Cheng Yen:

“Do good deeds and make good wishes each and every day.”

Its bring happiness to yourself and others too.

  1. Beautiful post.

Pleasure presupposes pain. So, often when we experience pleasure, it is at the expense of somebody else.

Mindfulness takes us away from our preoccupation with these feelings and allows us to accept each moment as a moment within itself, without seeking gain. We simply ‘be’ without needing to ‘become’.

~ Wherever you are, be all there – Jim Elliot

I saw a Mooji video on mindfulness a while back. He was saying that when we are out in public we should imagine our hands held in front of us in prayer. Just imagine it. Everyone we meet we are greeting in our minds. I tried it and it really does work!! It immediately makes us less defensive and more open. Although I don’t practice this way, it could be a wonderful tool for those who feel anxiety and stress in public places.

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. Lovely garden section for the hairy melon! 🙂
Yes… I rarely just sit to meditate; meditation is something all day long each and every day… otherwise it is calculated groping “for an award.”
Real meditation is its own reward… and it is beyond sitting like a rigid statue.

  3. LiJiun, once again you amazed me. Your thoughts of how meditation should be is right. We should be bear in mind that we do meditate in our mind during anything what we do daily
