What gifts do you prepare for your family or friends during Christmas day?

Is it based on what you love or what they love?

Are you buying what they want or what they need?

The way we select the gift, we can be aware on whether

we are focusing on “I”, “Me”, “Mine” or “others”,

we are focusing on “need” or “want”,

Are we generous enough to give?

Be mindfulness during the gift selection.

How do you feel when they express appreciation for your gift?

Are you happy for the spirit of giving?

Why not we continue the spirit of giving throughout the year?

Bring happiness and love to the needy people.

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by ‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you took me in.’ Hungry not only for bread — but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing — but naked for human dignity and respect. Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks — but homeless because of rejection.”

  2. So beautifully expressed. I had never realized that Christmas is based on the greatest values taught by the Buddha, but through your eyes and heart I understand that for the first time. Thank you for such a lovely Christmas gift, and for bringing all of us of different paths together at this special time. Merry Christmas, Li Jiun! With Metta, WG
