Transform…

A beautiful flowers get the nutrient from the horrible smell of dung.

A beautiful flowers get the nutrient from the horrible smell of dung.  We are able to learn from all challenges in life, we can be a BETTER person!

How horrible is the smell of dung?

I believed nobody want to carry the dung with you.

Do you enjoy eating juicy and sweet fruits, e.g. watermelon, mango, honey melon and others?

Do you feel happy when you look at the colorful flowers?

Have you ever think that we can use the dung as fertilizer and it help to grow the juicy fruits and colorful flowers?

Recently, One of my friend shared her story, how she went through her divorce.

A third-party came to their marriage, it marked the end of the marriage.

Initially, she was full of hatred, anger to her ex-husband and also the “3rd party”.

She kept asking herself,

“WHY ME?” “I never do any wrong, why this happen to me?”

“Why he dump me and also our young children?”

“Unfair!”

Later, She doubt on herself, “Is it my fault?”, she started the self blame.

She just can’t let go and she continued to cling on to her divorce.

She was so suffering, full of negative emotion, no peaceful and calm moment in life.

She never smile, stressed, alway in tension mood, no happiness at all.

She is so different now. I just can’t associate all this negative images was her.

The way she shared her story with me, it’s like she is telling others story. Nothing to do with her.

She told me that she is blessed to practice Buddha’s teaching in her most challenge moment in life.

“Time is healing” and “It’ll pass”. Gradually, she is able to let go her divorce and all negative emotions.

Now, she has transform her from hatred to forgiveness and also metta to her ex-husband and wife for continually taking care of her children.

She is relieved and liberated. She is able to share her story to encourage and motivate others to let go their suffering and start a NEW life.

Like Ajahn Brahm teaching, the tragedy (the dung) can transform to be fertilizer to enrich our own life and also our service to the world.

When we are facing any challenges in life, we should be happy, “More Fertilizer for my garden.”

  1. I love this analogy and can relate somehwat from my own horrible divorce but can you explain to me what this means and the word metta: Now, she has transform her from hatred to forgiveness and also metta to her ex-husband and wife for continually taking care of her children.

    • Sis, metta= Loving kindness! She is able to give her loving kindness to her ex-husband and his wife now. Think about it, how was your life when you are teenager? Perhaps you’ve survived well, even though during that time you are single. Now, you are single again. No worry, time is healing and it’ll pass, you can go through this challenge moment. May you be Well and Happy! Cheers!
